The 30th day of the sixth lunar month is celebrated with the hanging of a huge Thangka morning at Drepung monastery and afternoon at Sera monastery once in a year since time of the HH the 5th Dalai Lama in 17 century.Rest of 5 days, all local people and tourists go to the Norbulingka to watch Opera dances and for picnic.
The Opera dance was an ancient Tibetan traditional dance which found by the Master Thang Tong Gyalpo in 15 century.Even Shutun(Yogurt festival) is the most popularly summer festival of Lhasa.

Sakye monastery in Tibet

This is Sakya monastery and a main school of Sakyapa Tibet Buddhism.Its divided in to two institutions.The north monastery founded by Khon Konchok Gyalpo in 1073.The south monastery founded by Shakya Sangpo in 1268 to fulfill the wish of Drogon Phakpa.
There are many holy statues in center of assembly hall ,beautiful murals painting on north wall of assembly hall and collections of 84000 thousands ancient sutras(scripture book) made from Palm leafs since 11 century and 13 century.Sakya monastery is the second biggest library in Tibet.
